Scripture: Matthew. 6:19-21
Introduction:
What do you treasure most in life? Well, according to the scriptures, everything you possess falls into the category of treasures. As we continue to discuss the areas of our life that must be brought under control for us to be what God wants us to be, today we are going to talk about Our Treasure.
I. The proper view of treasure
- God owns it all.
- We are managers of what God has given us. Luke 16:10-12
- Biblical ways of acquiring treasure:
- Working
- Investments Matthew 25:27
- Receiving gifts Luke 6:38
- Saving
- Right ways to use our treasure
- Meet our own needs and the needs of others Ephesians 4:28
- Promote the work of God Malachi 3:8-11
- Reach God-given goals
- Desires of our heart Psalm 37:4-6
- Wrong attitudes about our treasure
- My treasure is mine.
- Deny God His tithe
- Disregard scriptural financial principles
II. Location of our treasure
- Earth
- Heaven (Matthew 6:19-20)
- How to transfer treasure to heaven (Matthew 19:21)
When you give to someone in need or to the Lord’s work, you are transferring treasure to heaven.
III. Our treasure is a personal disclosure of who we are.
- The issue is: Where is your heart? (Matthew 6:21; Proverbs 4:23)
