The Prayer of Faith

¹³Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. ¹⁴Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. ¹⁵And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. ¹⁶Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (James 5:13-16)

Indeed, prayer is powerful. It can move mountains. It can move the heart of God with compassion to His afflicted children if we come to Him with humbleness of heart. Everything that is humanly impossible is possible with the All-Powerful and All-Knowing God.

Consider the following promises of God:

Jesus said, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”( Luke 18:27).

Again, Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7;John 14:13)

“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (Matthew 21:22)

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

“Pray without ceasing.” (1 thessalonians 5:17)

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”(Ephesians 6:18)

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”(2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV)

“O you who hear prayer, to you all men will come.” (Psalm 65:2)

God is calling all His children to pray at all times for one another, to care for each other and to love each other as oneself. We should feel the joy and  pain of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Let us, therefore, get down on our knees, come together to God’s throne of grace in prayer, for we know that our requests and petitions to God will not be in vain.
