Controlling Your Tongue

Father, Your Word says in Proverbs 17:27,28 (AMP), He who has knowledge spares his words., and a man of understanding has a cool spirit. Even a fool when he holds his peace is considered wise; when he closes his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. Proverbs 29:20 (KJV) also says, Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? There is more hope of a fool than of him. And James 3:2 (KJV) says, For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

Lord, you have said that life and death are in the power of the tongue, and that I will be satisfied by the fruit of my lips. Out of the abundance of my heart, my mouth speaks. I will feed my spirit on Your Word so that Your ‘word will be in abundance in me. Your words are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh.

When I speak Your ‘word, Father, it produces life and health in me. I will speak faith-filled words. I believe that I can control what I say because no temptations come to me that are unique or new, ut You are faithful, and You will make a way of escape whenI am tempted to sin with my mouth. Thank you, Father, for that escape. I will lear to be quick to hear and slow to speak.

Jesus said that I would be judged for all empty and idle words. Ether I can speak words of love, faith, and hope, or I can speak words filled with doubt, unbelief, and hate. I choose to speak Your Word, Father – words of life, peace, joy, and faith.

Because I know that good words are sweet to hear, and they bring life to people, help me always to be someone who says good things. Thank You, Father, for a pure heart and pure words.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
