1.    SCCD-DLA Scholarship Program

As the School Year 2009-2010 came to a close, SCCD looked back to God’s unfailing grace for continually pouring out resources to support the scholars whose number has increased dramatically on its 2nd year of full take off.  In the meeting of the scholars’ parents on February 28,2010, experiences were shared pointing to how God through the program has made an impact on their family life. One parent shared teary-eyed how her Grade 3 daughter has moved from being a non-reader to a reader with confidence. This is true indeed for the said child is already leading as liturgist in the Sunday Children’s Church.  Another mother attested as well on how her two children’s character has been molded for the better compared to the past while studying in the DLA.  These testimonies came from parents coming from the poorest and most depressed communities, Daang NIA and Simborio.  One father disclosed that his son who used to be an absentee while in the public school became deeply interested in studying when taken in the DLA as scholar.  Truly, education is a potent means of improving the quality of peoples’ lives.

SCCD-DLA Scholarship Program is making a difference in the community!

The program has several components though primary is the scholarship to children enrolled in the DLA. This alone requires funds amounting to about P300,000.00/year. Scholarship support ranges from 100% tuition fee, to 50% over-all school fees to 100% support covering as well books, uniform and other school needs depending on the pledge of the donor.  This year there are 26 children enrolled in the DLA supported by the Scholarship Program, double from last year’s 13 children.

**Update for SY 2012- 2013: Due to economic difficulties suffered by sponsors and donors, the fund for SCCD-DLA Scholarship Program has dwindled. Only 2% of the total fund needed were collected as of July 2012.

Some Would-Be-Beneficiaries of the Scholarship Program

2.  The High School Scholarship Program

Support is in form of daily allowance for a student enrolled in the public high school. For three years in a row now, a high school student is sponsored by the program with the CWA as donor. Due to lack of sponsors, only one high school student can be supported for now.

3.  The College Scholarship Program

There were two college students who were recipients of the AAEC (Asian American Ecumenical Church, USA) scholarship grant.  This sister church of SCCD has provided support to young people for five years now with one already a professional Civil Engineer. But this program was cut off due to restructuring  of AAEC.  We are currently looking for new sponsors to finance this College Scholarship Program for out of school High School graduates.

4. The Ministerial/Seminary Scholarship Program

SCCD birthed her Church Workers. The Church was able to identify two budding leaders and Church Workers, Sis. Bethel Relao and Johannah Christine Belmonte, who have undergone Pre-Ministerial Studies for a year, will soon enter Seminary Education commencing June 2013. SCCD still has to find sponsors/donors for the funding of these two Theological students.
