  • SPIC receives donations.  The Scholarship Program for Indigent Children (SPIC) a sub-section of the SCCD-DLA Scholarship Program Partnership has received a total of P22, 341.30 for this school year as of July 31, 2011 which goes towards the general scholarship support.  This is 15.87% of the total fund requirement of P140,775.00 supporting 2 scholars.  The School External Affairs Officer Ms. Lina Reyes who also sits in the School Board leads this fund campaign.
  • DLA takes in part time volunteers. On top of the fulltime school personnel in the DLA, part time volunteers were also taken in this school year namely Melanie Avila and Lorie Ann Domingo as Library Assistants, School Nurse Lyra Aquino replacing Jenny Pontanares who had left for work abroad and Gatekeeper Kevin Maike taking over Michael Delcano.  Except for Lyra Aquino, all these volunteers are members of SCCD, two of whom Lorie and Kevin as CYFers.  Lyra Aquino is a graduate of Emilio Aguinaldo College of Nursing undertaking review classes for her Nursing Board Exam this December. Melanie is a parent of a Nursery pupil and had been attending SCCD for more than two years now.  The services of these part time volunteers cannot be taken for granted as they fill in for the work gaps resulting from a limited school personnel force.

  • Participants sent to Campus Journalism Seminar. Disciples Gazette staffer Dennise Dipasupil and School Paper Adviser Teacher Jingle Ancheta attended a Campus Journalism Seminar on July 22, 2011 at the Dela Salle University organized by the Golden Wings Printing Services of Roselyn Villanueva Javier, an expert on campus journalism.  Ms. Javier and her husband who is a professional photographer and lay out artist offered to assist the DLA in coming out with a standard school paper this year hopefully an upstart in joining future competitions.
