Never Forgotten

Even in your darkest moment, God’s faithfulness surrounds you.

READ Isaiah 49:13-16

In these verses, God speaks about His faithfulness, addressing His people’s complaint that He has left them alone and is unaware of their plight. He tells them that He knows their fears—and then explicitly spells out how deeply He cares for them. The Lord describes His compassion as being like the intimate awareness and love a mother has for her newborn baby. And yet, He promises, even if that mother were to forget her child, “I will not forget you!” (Isa. 39:15) No earthly loyalty can compare with God’s personal commitment to His children.

REFLECT

Think and pray about the following questions, journaling your answers if possible.

1. In verse 16, what do you think the Lord means when He says, “I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands”? What does this image convey about how He sees you? And how does it impact the way you view Him?

2. In what ways have you felt forgotten or unseen? Write down these complaints, and then pray about each one, giving them to God and asking Him to speak into each situation.
