DLA celebrates 27th Founding Anniversary.  The 27th Founding Anniversary of the DLA was celebrated in a solemn and meditational atmosphere at the SCCD Multi-Purpose Hall on October 26, 2010 incorporating the UN Day observance.  Prayers were said for the nations hit by various calamities and afflicted by diseases including drug addiction. A candle was lighted by each Grade level every time prayer that was uttered forming a candelabra with the 7th candle on top for the Disciples Learning Academy whose future directions for expansion and improvement of facilities need to be seriously discerned.  The theme for this year’s anniversary is related to the UCCP Quadrennial theme, “Discerning God’s Great Purpose.  Ma’am Lina Reyes, the School Board Chairperson gave an inspirational message stressing the purpose set by God for our lives which are worship, praise and faithfulness.  Part 2 of this Founding Celebration is set in the last week of January during DLA School Week that will culminate on a Field Demo. Prayer for God’s Protection from Calamities*

Oh God, You are our stronghold and our fortress. You are our God; in You will we trust. We will not be afraid of any terror by day or night for You are always with us.

Lord, You are a shield to protect us. You are our light and our salvation – whom shall we fear? You are the stronghold of our life – of whom shall we be afraid? When evil people come to destroy us, they will stumble and fall.

We can have peace in our heart because perfect love casts out all fear. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Your Word promises us that no evil will come upon us, no accident will overtake us, and no disease or tragedy will come near our home. And You have promised us that no weapon aimed at us will succeed. So we will be strong, courageous, and fearless. Thank You for angels to keep us safe in all that we do.

God, we pray for all the victims of typhoon calamity that your guidance and loving spirit continue to comfort them. During this time may they find peace in your name that you can do great things beyond this tragedy. We believe that you’re a great provider, a healer and a comforter. We entrust everything into your hands.

In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
