Prayer for Our Country

Key scripture:  “Ye are the light of the world. A City that is set on a hill  cannot be hid…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 5:14,16)

Prayer:  Thank you Father, for our country, the Philippines, a city that has been set on a hill by your hand of purpose. God, bless our country, the land that I love. Stand beside her and guide her with a light from above. Guard my country, Lord, so that the forces of wickedness, corruption and immorality will be destroyed within its boundaries, and the standard of holiness will be raised for all to see.

Strengthen the bars of our gates, O Lord. Bless our children. May our harvest be plentiful and our granaries be full so that we will be able to share with all in need. Send forth your commandments to our land so that people will hear your Word and be glad. May the majesty of the mountains and the waves of the sea continue to show forth your glory. O Lord, I thank you and praise you.

Stay your hand of judgment, Lord. Lead your people to pray for their nation, and help all people to realize that our country was established to be a nation under You.

You said in your word that “if your people – the ones who are called by your name, – will humble themselves and pray and seek your face and turn from their wicked ways, then you will hear from heaven and you will forgive our sins and heal our land.”. Thank you for calling me, Father. I repent before you this day as I endeavor to seek your face through prayer. Please heal our land.

You are known in part by the judgments you execute. The wicked are often snared in the works of their own hands. You have declared that the wicked shall be turned into hell, and that any nation that forgets you will receive your judgment. Arise, O Lord; let not the evil men prevail. Put them in fear, O God. Deliver us from arrogance and help our country’s leaders to know that they are your servants.

As your words points out, many people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery and corruption. Many have vexed and oppressed the poor and needy. But Lord, you seek for someone among us who should make up the hedge and stand in the gap before you for the land so that you would not destroy it. I pray, loving and merciful father, that you will call forth many intercessors for the Philippines who will stand in the gap before you. May I be one of that growing number of intercessors.

Thank you for hearing the cry of the righteous who pray night and day for our nation. In the same way that you responded to the cries of Abrahan wherein he asked you to spare the city because of the righteous who lived there. Please  spare the Philippines because of those faithful servants who are taking a stand for righteousness in a time when it is not popular to do so.

Mighty Lord, call forth many prophets in this hour who will courageously speak forth your word and your warnings to our people. Instill them with holy boldness to proclaim the truth , even in the face of opposition. Give me courage to take a stand against unrighteousness, in all its hideous forms. May I be like Asa who responded to the word of God with courage by putting away all the abominable idols out the the land of Judah and Benjamin.

Inspire us and empower us with your Spirit, Lord, to be of good courage and to fear not. Help me to keep and to do all that is written in your law.  I desire with all my heart to stay on track, never turning aside from your will, either to the right or to the left.  I cleave to you, O Lord, for you are able to drive before us great and strong nations. No man shall stand before you, but with your Spirit one man is able to chase a thousand because you are figthing for us.

I will bless you at all times, your praise shall be continually in my mouth. Blessed is the nation whose God is you, O Lord. May our country be one who honors and serves you. May our leaders remember that no king is saved by the multitude of host, and that your eyes is upon those who fear you, upon those who hope in your mercy.  Have mercy upon us, O Lord.

Thank you that you hear when the righteous cry and you deliver the righteous out of all their troubles.  Lord, my heart breaks for the sin and blindness of my nation. But I thank you that you are near to all who are of a broken heart and save all those of a contrite spirit. I love you, O Lord my God. Amen.
