Serving The Lord

What is your philosophy of service? How do you view your ministry? Maybe your response is “I’m teaching Sunday School for the glory of God.” Ministry is not earning money or killing time but in our hearts we know we are serving our Savior.

As you build your ministry, know that Jesus has commissioned you into service (Matthew 28:19-20). You engage in ministry because it is Jesus who asked you to serve and won’t give up or feel discouraged even in the heat of trials.

Maybe you desire to reach out to needy people, lead a bible study or go to remote areas for mission work. No matter what ministry you are in, Jesus is your constant companion and He sees what you do behind the scenes. Even no one sees your good works, Jesus applauds God’s work in and through you.

Let us give our best. Someday, we come face to face with the Lord, signifying our journey on earth is over, Jesus will say “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Then you will know you have given your utmost for His Highest.

Our effectiveness in serving the Lord begins in our study of Jesus at work. Jesus is the greatest expert ever lived and we’ll all learn by putting into actions what we see in Him. These are:

  1. The Attitude of Jesus – He loved people. He was slow to condemn. He spent Himself for others.
  2. The approach of Jesus – He offered His friendship. He took questions seriously. He did not force Himself  on others.
  3. The method of Jesus – He went and looked for men. He led them to definite faith in himself. He went to His Father for His message and power.

Now, we all know that God has sent us to do both spreading His gospel and serving all men in their needs. Let us be reminded of the sufferings of Jesus. When we feel disheartened only Jesus can set our hearts on fire to light our way and serve. To serve means hurts and sacrifices. With Jesus, there’s no backtrack. Do not give up your ground!

Prayer: “Jesus, set my heart on fire in serving you. Fill me with courage to follow you.” Amen.
